Library Rules

Library Policy

The school library at Imperial International School For Excellence serves as a dynamic learning
resource centre that promotes academic excellence, reading habits, research skills, and digital
literacy. To ensure organized access and responsible use of resources, the following library rules and
guidelines are applicable to all students.

Library Access

The library is open to all enrolled students during scheduled library periods and designated class
visits. Students must carry a valid school ID or library card to access library services and issue books.
Entry and exit must follow library timings and staff instructions.

Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing limits are defined according to the student’s grade level. Books are generally issued for a
one to two-week loan period, depending on the category of the resource. Renewals may be
permitted if the book is not reserved by another student. Reference books, magazines, newspapers,
and select academic resources are strictly for in-library use only.

Return Policy and Fines

Students must return books on or before the due date. Late returns attract fines as per the school’s
library policy. In case of loss, damage, or defacement, the student must replace the book or pay the
full replacement cost.

Behaviour and Responsible Use

Students are expected to maintain silence, discipline, and respectful behaviour within the library
premises. Books, furniture, computers, and digital equipment must be handled with care.
Consumption of food or beverages is strictly prohibited. Personal digital devices may be used only
for educational purposes with permission.

Resource Integrity and Digital Ethics

The library collection includes print books, reference materials, periodicals, e-resources, and audio-
visual content. Students must respect copyright laws, log off shared systems after use, and
immediately report damaged or missing materials.

Academic Support and Literacy Development

Qualified librarians support students in research skills, resource selection, citation practices, and
curriculum-based learning. The library regularly hosts reading programmes, book fairs, author
interactions, and literacy activities to encourage a lifelong love for reading.

Equity and Accountability

All students share equal responsibility in maintaining library resources. Misuse may result in
restricted borrowing privileges and corrective measures.
